The idea of the company emerged from the needs of Harman. "I started to talk to Phyllis about the idea of a product line that would meet the standard of textile conservation," said Harman.
With Dillon and Patsy Orlofsky, the founder of the Textile Conservation Workshop in South Salem, NY, As advisors, Harman was able to contact companies that provide museums with customized covers used in the storage of collections of costumes - suppliers who test the fabric before you sell. "There was no question that the covers had to use unbleached and undyed fabrics," said Harman. "They do not have zippers, velcro and not plastic." She even made sure that the buttons - the corozo nut nondamaging - meets preservation standards. Interested in its products locally, Harman has found a manufacturer based in Brooklyn by the Development Corporation of the clothing industry.
