Like all production boats, Hunters are built to be price competitive with labour saving innovations in construction (such as CNC computer cutting of componetry and glass reinforcement) being one of the main ways of reducing costs. The 36 is assembled in three pieces: hull, tray and deck. Plumbing and wiring are installed in the tray module, which is then glued to the hull with Plexis (a structural adhesive). Cabinetry is installed, then the hull is fitted. The hull and deck are joined with 3M5200 and screws are inserted every 2”. Once the 3M5200 has set, then every other screw is removed and replaced with a nut and bolt. Other manufacturers use similar methods, and Hunter point out that their gluing system is stronger than the GRP itself. Hunter also highlight their external capshroud chainplates, which are recessed into the hull and structurally integrated with it. This simplifies construction, and avoids a common source of deck leaks.
