Help!: Broken closet pocket doors can be fixed

Dear Help: My problem is I have a closet door that needs to be repaired. Someone in the region specialize in this?

Mike Beyer of the door South East & Trim in West Melbourne, who has done good work for homeowners and builders for years, recommends John Vickers John Vickers carpentry, also west of Melbourne, and no experience.

"I was the installation and replacement of interior and exterior doors for 27 years and have replaced more than 5,000 doors," he said. "I could make life simple repair or replacement of closet doors."

Vickers says he does not know what is the nature of the repair will be until he sees and that "many things can go wrong" with sliding doors closet. Many times the culprit is a bent or track broken.

"Usually, the older the house, the worst of the track," he said. "In older homes, especially those built in the 1960s and 70s, the tracks are not as good as they are now."

In most cases, broken closet doors can be easily corrected.
