June 10--It seems like just last week that catcher Eric Wedge was throwing lasers to second base.
Marty Glazier was doing the public address from a portable system he found tucked away in someone's dark basement. The concession stand was a portable stand on wheels that featured two items: Pepsi Cola (the league sponsor) and chips.
That was 25 years ago this summer.
The Lima Locos are the only team left from that first summer in the Great Lakes Collegiate League in 1987.
For the record, they were known as the Lima Blues that summer.
The Locos went 24-15 that first year and won the regular-season crown. Since then, they've won the GLCL postseason championship in 1993 and 2004 under former Locos coach Rob Livchak.
